Renewable Energy - Promoting Growth in Nova Scotia

Growth: what is the Province doing to promote wind and other forms of renewable energy?
We have two major initiatives to address these challenges:
- A renewable energy standard requiring a minimum of 18.5% of electricity to be generated from renewable sources by 2013, and
- A goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the province to 10% below 1990 levels by 2020.
We expect the renewable energy standard will result in:
- 22% green electricity supply
- 300+ commercial wind turbines
- 581 megawatts wind = 175,000 homes
- 1.3 megatonnes CO2 cut = 240,000 cars
- Over $1 billion in investment
