Public Consultation on Draft Amendments to Energy Efficient Appliances Regulations

The Government of Nova Scotia is consulting the public on amendments to the Energy-Efficient Appliances Regulations. The proposed amendments will regulate that conventional roadway lighting meet the efficiency standard of a LED fixture that complies with ANSI/IESNA RP-8 criteria. Key features of the proposed amendments include:

  • NSPI and municipalities will be required to convert conventional roadway lighting to LED based on the following time-line:
    10% LED - NSPI June 30, 2013
    50% LED - NSPI June 30, 2015
    75% LED - NSPI and municipalities June 30, 2017
    100% LED - NSPI and municipalities June 30, 2019
  • NSPI and municipalities will be required to provide reports for roadway lighting compliance to the Minister of Energy.

There is a 30-day public comment period.
