Nova Scotia Energy Electricity Regulations
Nova Scotia is one of the greenest provinces in Canada. Our renewable electricity regulations are among the most advanced of any province. By 2015, 25% of our electricity will be produced by renewable sources. This is the law.
Our green path started in 2007, with the introduction of our first renewable electricity regulations. And just recently we introduced the latest renewable electricity regulations, and Nova Scotia's first feed-in tariff.
For information on Nova Scotia's new renewable electricity regulations, go to www.nsrenewables.ca.
We also opened the electricity marketplace to wholesale transactions as part of regulatory changes made in 2007. Wholesale customers are able to purchase their demand and energy needs from independent power developers.
The Province has also put a lot of work into studying the issue or renewable energy and green attributes. For more information, see the reports below related to the Electricity Marketplace Governance Committee and the Robert Cary report into the administration of green attributes.
