Renewable energy is crucial to securing a greener, cleaner Nova Scotia.
To help make renewable energy more accessible, Nova Scotia Power Inc. launched a program called Net Metering.
Now, residential and commercial customers can connect small, renewable energy generating units (100 kilowatts or less) to the provincial power grid.
With this approach, Nova Scotians have the opportunity to use renewables for their own energy needs while at the same time having the security of being able to draw from the grid, if necessary.
The 2009 Nova Scotia Energy Strategy recommends changes to enhance the existing New Metering Program.
