Natural Gas
If you live in an area of Nova Scotia where natural gas is available, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the Nova Scotia Natural Gas Equipment Rebate Program. The program was developed to help you convert existing heating equipment to natural gas using the highest efficiency equipment available. It is administered by Heritage Gas.
Please visit the Heritage Gas website for rebate details. You may also be eligible for Federal incentives through Natural Resources Canada.
Funds for the Rebate Program are provided from the Nova Scotia Department of Energy's Gas Market Development Fund (GMDF). The GMDF was established by the Province with funds provided by the Sable Offshore Energy Project partners, to help develop the natural gas market in Nova Scotia.
The Rebate Program will increase natural gas usage in the Province, reduce reliance on high-emission fuels, and provide increased energy choice to consumers. It was designed with advice from the Nova Scotia Natural Gas Association.
Your Energy Rebate
Your Energy Rebate is a program designed to help Nova Scotians with the rising cost of home energy. For most, the rebate is automatically credited on the bill by the power company and fuel distributors (home-delivered oil, propane, firewood and natural gas).
For other energy sources, such as kerosene, coal and wood pellets, Nova Scotians are able to apply for the rebate. See Access NS website for more information.
Zero Interest Loan Program
EnerGuide-qualified homeowners have until June 30, 2011 to submit applications for pre-approval for a loan up to $5,000. Once approved, homeowners will have 18 months from the initial audit to complete the work, submit final audit results and receipts to receive loans. The Department of Energy and Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations will administer the program until the last pre-approved loans are processed.
