Fixed Roof and Campground Occupancy Reports

The department has reported accommodation sector activity since the 1960's thanks to the cooperation of individual operators throughout the province. Monthly occupancy reports continue to provide valuable information on performance and trends within the sector, and are important to both industry and government. Accommodation statistics are the best source of geographic data on tourism activity in the province.

As part of The Tourist Accommodations Act, operators are required to provide an occupancy report within the first seven days of the end of each calendar month for each month the accommodation is operating. Operators wishing to participate in provincial tourism marketing activities (such as the Doers and Dreamers Guide and novascotia.com) must submit their monthly reports as well as participate in one of three currently recognized quality accommodation programs.
