About the Tourism Division

Tourism Division mandate covers planning, development, marketing and operations for the tourism industry in Nova Scotia. Our staff works to provide tourism operators with the tools and support they need to run successful businesses.

Here are just a few of areas the Tourism Division is responsible for:

  • Conducting, analyzing and disseminating research and statistics
  • Providing tourism development and planning support, including financial assistance and guidance to communities
  • Helping develop the market readiness of the province's hot tourism products, destinations and attractions
  • Marketing and sales of Nova Scotia as a tourism destination to generate export revenues
  • Inspecting and licensing all fixed-roof and campground accommodations
  • Operating the provincial Visitor Information Centres and overseeing the operation of the Signature Resorts
  • Developing and supporting government policy to help in the growth and competitiveness of Nova Scotia's tourism sector
