Opportunities for Prosperity, a new economic growth strategy for Nova Scotians, reflects the ideas and issues that arose from extensive consultations and research work conducted during the spring and summer of 2000. This site links to the original discussion paper that launched the process, as well as to what government heard and learned about economic development during this period.

Nova Scotia Economic Development issued the discussion paper Toward Prosperity in April 2000 to help guide government’s efforts in developing an economic growth strategy for the people of Nova Scotia. The document was the basis for roundtable sessions held across the province during the spring and early summer of 2000.

The roundtable sessions involved business, community, educational and political leaders from across the province.
- Themes from the meetings
The many ideas and issues raised during the roundtables have been organized under a list of "themes."

Current research was considered or conducted into the various elements that make for a strong economy.
