Student Employment Program (SEP)

The Department of Economic and Rural Development administers several programs designed to assist employers in a variety of sectors by providing a wage rebate to encourage them to hire students.

The purpose of these programs is to support meaningful work experience for post-secondary students in their field of study. This experience helps students qualify for full time employment upon graduation, while enhancing their skills for their chosen career.

We are pleased to bring this video to you, which we hope you will find useful and will answer questions you may have about the programs. Please don't hesitate to send us additional questions via email sepinfo@gov.ns.ca. A full Question and Answer document will soon be available here.
Eligibility
Eligible students must be currently enrolled full-time in a post-secondary education and returning to full-time studies in the following school year. A graduating high school student in the program year, who can provide a letter of acceptance for attendance as a full-time student at a post-secondary institution in the next school year, may also be considered.

Other programs are designed to provide work term experience for students who are registered in eligible post-secondary Co-operative studies, who require these work terms as part of graduation requirements.

Employers, please read the application guidelines associated with each program before submitting an application.
