Qualified foreign investors make an investment of $400,000 in return for the ability to immigrate. The federal government loans the money to the province for investment, then the province returns the $400,000 to the federal government in five years. They in turn, return it to the immigrant investor.
Nova Scotia companies and organizations can submit proposals in areas such as job creation, export development, information technology, environmentally sustainable infrastructure, manufacturing and production.
The Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Strategic Opportunities Fund Incorporated ensure loans are secure and projects meet loan criteria. The Board also oversees the portfolio to mitigate risk and ensure liquidity of the funds.
