Can't get onto a website?

If your connection is slow or you can't connect to a site, check to see if you have other sites open and close the ones you are not using. The more windows you have opened, the slower your computer runs.

Look for the date that a website was last updated. Some are no longer in use but are still online.

Web addresses change and go out of date. You may have to look for information in more than one way. For example, type the web address into your address bar, or use a search engine such as KillerInfo.

Internet addresses will usually take you to a particular page in a website rather than the home page. If you have trouble getting to a page, try backspacing from the end of the web address (or URL) and take off everything that follows the Internet code. This lets you search the main site. Here are some common Internet codes

    .ca = Canada

    .com = commercial

    .org, .net = non-profit organizations or individuals
