There are over 200,000 people living and working in rural Nova Scotia who currently do not have access to high-speed Internet at home. The Broadband for Rural Nova Scotia initiative will ensure everyone has access to high speed by the end of 2009.
For families, access to high speed will improve the quality of Internet activities such as shopping and researching purchases, using online telephone services, accessing eGovernment services, as well as enjoying interests and hobbies online.
High speed Internet will also give families the tools they need to study online and earn qualifications including a high school diploma, community college and university courses all from the comfort of their own home.
