Darren has worked in the music industry for over 10 years - as performer, road manager, booking agent, artist manager and recording engineer.
His company, Maracto Digital Solutions www.marcatodigital.com, based out of Sydney, Nova Scotia, specializes in the creation of web-based management solutions, to help artists, their managers and artistic directors to manage their work and bookings efficiently, and to enable festival staff anywhere to organize events.
Sheri Jones from Jones & Company explains that "Marcato has created what I think is one of the more sophisticated, yet easy to use, extensive databases, and it has a really smart interface with as much data as you can have on your musicians, stage blocks, ticket prices, ticketing, lights, hotel bookings. It's like a massive administrative office created in the most usable format I've ever seen in my experience so far in this industry. We've only been using it for a year, and I honestly don't know how we coped before we started. It makes such a huge difference. Our artists are no longer panicked if they can't get a hold of us when they're on the road, as they can go online. If it's not working tomorrow, I really don't know what we would do."
