A. F. Theriault & Son Ltd.

"Our shipyard is what we like to call a turn-key operation. You can come to us with a visionary dream, and we can make the visionary dream come true," says Gilles Theriault, Assistant Marine Superintendent.

A family business, founded in 1938, A. F. Theriault & Son Ltd., www.aftheriault.com, prides itself on boatbuilding and repair. Today, the company employs 125 people from different trades and certifications, and works with clients worldwide.

Gilles explains that "We are building boats for clients in England, Florida and the USA. By the use of the Internet, we utilize designs from Australia. The designs get emailed to us, and then we end up building the boats here at A.F. Theriault, after all the legwork has been done in Australia. Being equipped with high-speed Internet allows us to do what we do and to work in the rural part of Nova Scotia."

Foreman Brian Thinot adds "You are basically working worldwide. You got one little project, and you got at least eight countries involved, and you always go back and forth through the Internet."
