Who should take part?
Any community can complete this workshop. There are many types of communities. A community can be, a group of people who:- live in a particular place, or
- share interests such as business, art, or volunteering, or
- who share common characteristics, such as age or disabilities
These are some people who should be considered:
- community leaders such as municipal representatives and staff
- staff from federal and provincial government departments who live or work in the community
- economic development agencies such as the regional development authorities (RDAs) or your local Canada Business Development Corporation (CBDC)
- business groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, or Board of Trade
- community development groups that work in your area
- representatives from employers in important rural sectors such as
- tourism
- agriculture
- natural resources
- the fishery
- manufacturing and service companies
- local champions of high-speed use in the community such as
- C@P site staff and volunteers
- the library board
- artists and crafts people
- local experts in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), such as web designers, ICT consultants and companies
- teachers, professors, and instructors from all levels of education, public and private
- representatives of community groups, such as
- seniors
- youth, particularly those with leadership roles such as members of student councils
- people with disabilities
- new residents and immigrants
- anyone who is already using high-speed or other communication technology
