The Internet can be used to spread information and communicate in an emergency. For example, when phone lines are down Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) lets people talk to each other using programs like Skype and Google Talk. People at the scene of a crisis can send information so that a coordinating body can monitor and send them the resources they need.
Nova Scotia’s Emergency Management Office – works to reduce the effects of emergencies of any size or type through forward planning and support for communities in case of emergencies. The EMO website has a very useful Links Page that provides advice on all kinds of emergencies
Canada Safety Council - something for everyone including an online magazine, training for babysitters and drivers, and quizzes on everything from air bags to workplace mental health
