WHO CAN APPLY?
Any institution, organization or business with operations based in Nova Scotia may apply for funding through the Environmental Technology Program. Applicants must be registered and in good standing with the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stock Companies.
Organizations are permitted to enter into partnership with other businesses, institutions or organizations, provided the parameters of the relationship are clearly outlined in the project application. Efforts will be made to provide funding to as many projects as possible. Academic institutions are required to have a private sector partner for the project.
The ETP will provide funding for environmental technology projects which qualify under the following two categories:
1. Technology Development and Commercialization
- The ETP will support the development of environmental technologies that demonstrate strong potential for commercialization.
- Research must be conducted at an academic institution, a private sector research institution and/or a consultancy operation which is based in Nova Scotia.
- This research must have a focus on technologies and practices with the goal of GHG and air pollutant reductions and must result in a demonstratively commercially viable product.
- Projects being led by academic institutions are required to have a commercialization partner that has committed to investing in the technology.
2. Technology Adoption and Deployment, Pilot Demonstration Projects
- The ETP will support technology transfer where the expertise and capabilities to develop the technology do not exist in Nova Scotia and where environmental and economic benefits are created along with the adoption of underutilized environmental technologies.
- The applicant must demonstrate that the technology to be adopted and demonstrated is new and innovative to Nova Scotia. Preference will be given to projects that have high potential for replication.
