ecoNova Scotia for Clean Air and Climate Change

Notice:

The EcoNova Scotia 2009 Annual Report is now available for review:

Nova Scotia’s Environmental Goals and Sustainable Prosperity Act will make our province one of the cleanest, most sustainable regions in Canada by 2020.

The Act includes commitments to cut greenhouse gases to at least 10% below 1990 levels by the year 2020, and large reductions in air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, mercury, and particulate matter by 2010.

Together with the strategy, the Climate Change Action Plan charts a path to meet or exceed the air emissions target by 2020. The CCAP contains 68 actions in key areas such as air quality, energy efficiency, renewable energy, transportation, and adaptation.

To help achieve that goal, our $42.5 million ecoNova Scotia for Clean Air and Climate Change fund will support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. This funding was provided by the Government of Canada in 2007.
