Co-publishing Program
The Culture Division manages the Co-publishing
Program, a public/private sector partnership program for publications.
This program provides private-sector publishers with the opportunity
to market specific books, series, directories, and magazines
on behalf of the government. It also permits government to continue
to publish or start to publish information at reduced or no
costs.
Clients with information that they wish to continue to make
public or start to make public, both traditionally and electronically,
can do so at a lower cost if the private-sector publisher has
a market for the publication. Production and distribution costs
can be covered or offset in some instances through the sale
of advertising and in others through assigned royalties. An
added bonus is the broader distribution that your information
can realize through the established trade network of the private-sector
publisher.
Through a Call for Proposals, the Culture Division will work
with you to establish if there is an interest by the private
sector, the best treatment for your publication, and the most
cost-effective method. After award of the contract, staff will
continue to work with you and your private-sector partner to
ensure that you have approvals at all key points of production
and that the quality of product promised is delivered.
