Industrial Facilities & Waste

“Industrial facilities“ include a broad range of processing and manufacturing activities, as well as construction related activities such as:

  • building products manufacturing (asphalt shingles, gypsum board, bricks, etc.)
  • Portland cement plant
  • asphalt paving plant
  • stationary ready-mix concrete plant
  • pit
  • quarry
  • topsoil removal greater than 1 hectare
  • sulphide bearing material disposal (slate disposal)

These facilities, and including those that handle industrial waste, are regulated by the province.

Requirement Document Act / Regulations
Attain an industrial approval and all renewals.
Activities covered include: biotechnology, chemical, construction, food, fish and animal byproducts, metals, oil & gas, power plants, primary manufacturing services (sludge, wastewater treatment), wood products, plus others.
