Lone Parent Student Affordable Rental Housing
This program provides a limited number of subsidized rental housing units in privately owned apartment buildings, or cooperative housing projects for to low-income single parents attending university.
These rental units are offered under the existing Rent Supplement Program which is administered by the Housing Authorities.
Eligibility
To qualify, a lone parent student must be:
- Enrolled full time at an accredited university in Nova Scotia, and working toward a first undergraduate degree. We also allow continued study through a second undergraduate degree that is part of a concurrent or "blended" degree program (e.g., B.A. for a B.S.W., or B.A./BSc. and B.Ed.).
- The lone custodial parent.
- Eligible for public housing.
- Be approved for Nova Scotia Student Assistance.
