Co-operative and Non-profit Housing

Co-operative and non-profit housing projects programs provide modest, affordable housing for lower- and moderate income families, seniors and individuals. Co-operative housing is owned and managed by the resident members while non-profit housing projects are owned and managed by the non-profit sponsors.

Eligibility

Depending on the type of co-operative or non-profit housing program under which the housing was developed , and your household annual income, your monthy monthly housing payment may be market rent or less. A member with low income may be eligible to receive subsidy from either the co-operative's subsidy pool (income tested assistance) or through a rent supplement provided by the Department (ILM Co-op's). Most Boards of Directors of co-operative housing projects undertake subsidy reviews annually and distribute rental subsidies based on the amount available to the co-operative.
