Disabled Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program for Homeowners
The Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP) for Persons with Disabilities offers financial assistance to homeowners to undertake accessibility work to modify dwellings occupied or intended for occupancy by persons with disabilities. Funding is provided jointly by the Government of Canada (75%) and the Province of Nova Scotia (25%).
Financial Assistance Available
Maximum loan forgiveness:
- Homeowner or Rooming House -$16,000
Eligibility
Criteria
Properties must meet minimum health and safety standards.
Homeowners may apply:
- for modifications to units occupied by tenants with incomes below the income thresholds;
- for assistance if they own a rooming house with rents below established levels.
Eligible Modifications
Modifications must be related to housing and be reasonably related to the disabled occupant's disability.
Ineligible Modifications
Work carried out before the RRAP loan is approved in writing is not eligible.
