Child Care Information for Families

We offer programs that support the family unit and foster healthy child development between the ages of 3 months and 12 years. We also monitor and license child care (also known as "daycare") facilities across the province.

Programs and resources

• Child Care Directory
  The Government of Nova Scotia licenses child care facilities throughout the province. This directory lets you search for facilities by name and/or location, and shows whether a facility currently meets its licensing requirements.
• Child Care Subsidy
  The government may provide partial funding for a subsidized space in a child care centre should you qualify under the income guidelines.
• Child Care Subsidy Forms
  The Subsidy Application and Release of Information Consent form is available in a downloadable (PDF) format.
• Income Eligibility & Assessed Daily Parent Fee Changes (ADPF)
  Effective April 1, 2008 the maximum allowable income levels are being increased and the minimum ADPF will be lowered from $2.25 per day per family to $1.00 per day per family.
• Early Intervention Program Information
  These programs are designed for children who are at risk of poor developmental outcomes.
• Supported Child Care for Children with Special Needs
  This program helps families of children with special needs have access to child care in their own communities
• Training Requirements for Early Childhood Staff
  Information for people who work, or want to work, in a Nova Scotian childcare facility.
