The Nova Scotia government funds a program that provides prescription drug coverage (Pharmacare) for children of low-income families. (This program is sometimes referred to as LIPC: Low income pharmacare for children.) Families pay $5 per prescription no matter how much the medication costs.
The Department of Community Services also provides Pharmacare coverage for more than 50,000 people who receive assistance from the department including income assistance, services for persons with disabilities and family and community supports. (See our page on this program.)
The program is available for families who receive the Nova Scotia Child Benefit and have a household income below $20,921.
To apply for Low Income Pharmacare for Children, complete and sign the Application form (PDF) and mail it to the Department of Community Services at :
