2011 Draft Coastal Strategy

From October 13th to December 16th, 2011, Nova Scotians were invited to comment and provide input on the draft Coastal Strategy [PDF-572 KB].

The consultation process included a variety of mechanisms for gathering input from the public and stakeholders including:

  • online and written submissions
  • issue working groups
  • meetings upon request
  • government to government review and input

Over the course of this consultation period we heard from many people and organizations representing coastal groups, businesses, and communities.

Feedback is now being analyzed and the results of the online submissions are posted verbatim below. The feedback includes a compilation of all comments received through the online public survey on the draft Coastal Strategy. A total of sixty-seven surveys were filled out between October 13th and December 16th 2011. There were also seventeen written submissions in letter or email form which we have consolidated into one document and included below.

Please contact the PON Secretariat team at ourcoast@gov.ns.ca if you have any questions, concerns, or would like to see this information in another format.

A separate report from the issue working groups has also been completed and is available below.

The final Coastal Strategy is targeted for release in summer 2012.
