Technology and Information Strategy

Much has been accomplished by the province’s technology and information community in recent years. Nova Scotia has focused on delivery of on-line services, standardization of business practices and systems, shared services, and improved access to information. However, the pace of change is accelerating and, likewise, public expectations of government programs and services are growing. Certainly, government’s ability to meet these expectations will depend upon its effective management and use of technology and information.

The Chief Information Office is pleased to have led the development of this, the first-ever government-wide Technology and Information Strategy for the Province of Nova Scotia. Consultations with departments highlighted that the innovative use of technology and information was essential to achieving government’s priorities. The three-year strategy accomplishes this through the development of technology and information strategic priorities, key objectives, and expected results. It provides the direction to which departmental technology and information strategies and operational plans will align.
