Medal of Bravery

Nova Scotia Medal of Bravery

The Medal of Bravery is a provincial program to recognize persons who have risked their own lives or safety in assisting another person or protecting property.

Any person can be nominated for the Medal of Bravery, including those who have demonstrated exceptional bravery beyond that which is expected of them in their course of employment or service to the public.

To nominate someone for the Medal of Bravery simply follow the nomination process. The deadline for nominations has been extended to July 7th, 2008.

Recipients are chosen from an advisory panel which consists of, but is not limited to:

  • The Honourable Constance Glube, former Chief Justice of the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal
  • The Chief Executive Officer of the Emergency Management Office
  • The Deputy Minister of Justice
  • The Fire Marshal of the Province
  • The President of the Nova Scotia Chiefs of Police Association
  • The Commander Joint Task Force Atlantic
  • Mr. Wayne Adams, former Member of the Legislative Assembly
  • Mr. John Cody

or their designates.

Recipients of the Medal of Bravery will receive their medals at a ceremony in the autumn.
