Installing propane in a home should always be simple and safe. Prior to recent changes, safety was ensured, but getting a permit took three to five days. The Nova Scotia Government has changed the paper permit process to a simple online registration system with virtually no wait time. It offers almost immediate acknowledgement to proceed with less paperwork. Protection is maintained since the computer generates a registration that installers have to keep and, as always, installations are subject to random audits.
Close to 90% of propane installers are using the new online registration for residential installments. This represents about 2500 permits ann ually with less paperwork and less waiting time.
