Restaurant

picture The restaurant in our example has a license to serve liquor with food and is located on its own private property, near a highway. It does not have municipal water service. That makes it one of the most complex restaurants, since many restaurants are in leased property with water service. For this type of restaurant, the owner would spend up to 67 hours on the provincial regulatory paperwork for the first year of operation, which includes:

  • Name Reservation Request Form
  • Registration of a Business Name, Partnership or Sole Proprietorship
  • Incorporation Instructions
  • Business Occupancy
  • Building near Highway and Access to Property Permit — Residential & Commercial
  • Food Establishment Permit
  • Liquor License Eating Establishment
  • Sewage Disposal (On Site) Permit
  • Public Drinking Water Supplies
  • Fuel Safety (Installation) Permit
  • Approval — groundwater withdrawal

Total time: 67hrs

Total time, if the restaurant has access to municipal water and sewer services: 25 hrs
