Competitiveness
and Compliance Initiative (CCI)
As one of the government's major regulatory departments, Nova Scotia Environment and Labour (NSEL) is leading the way in improving how we regulate. Through the Competitiveness and Compliance Initiative (CCI), the department works to ensure new and existing regulations both help business become more competitive and strengthen the safety and environmental interests of Nova Scotians.
CCI has developed a Multi-year Strategy (3.0MB PDF) to implement all elements of Better Regulation in its home department. In addition, CCI is leading BRI's work to improve the quality of regulation for the entire provincial government.
CCI is establishing the principles and approach that will help ensure lasting improvements, and applying them first within Environment and Labour. The work encompasses developing tools to help identify and prioritize issues as well as design effective solutions.
