2009 Family Scholarship
Regulations
- One WINS Family Scholarship of $700 is offered annually to WINS members, their husbands, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and wards.
- The purpose of the scholarship is to provide assistance to a graduating high school student who wishes to obtain training at a recognized technical institute, school of nursing, college or university in Canada.
- The scholarship will be available as follows: $700 to be paid to the institution, in the name of the student, at the beginning of the second term of the first year upon receipt of a letter from the Registrar of the institution indicating the student is enrolled for that term.
- This scholarship will be awarded to a student whose permanent residence is in Nova Scotia.
- Applicants must include notice of acceptance by the technical institute, school of nursing, college or university with application.
- Applicants are asked to mail all seven (7) items as stated on the reverse of this form to the Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee, c/o WINS, Box 550, Truro, NS B2N 5E3.
- In addition to scholastic standing, applicants will also be judged on evidence of character, leadership skills, participation in extracurricular and community activities and financial need.
- Winner of the scholarship shall be chosen by a committee of the Women’s Institutes of Nova Scotia.
- No student will be awarded more than one Women’s Institutes of Nova Scotia scholarship.
Presentation of award to be made at high school graduation ceremony, if possible by a local Women’s Institute member.
ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE WOMEN’S INSTITUTES OF NOVA SCOTIA, ON OR BEFORE Friday, April 10th, 2009.
