ACWW

The Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) is the largest international organization of millions of rural women. Established in 1930, ACWW is pledged to reduce poverty through development projects and self-help programs. Through an international network, ACWW is working to improve living condition worldwide – an international challenge.

The objectives of ACWW:

  • To raise the standard of living of women and their families all over the world;
  • To promote international goodwill, friendship and understanding between women everywhere;
  • To work together for the relief of poverty and to promote education, the relief of sickness and the protection and preservation of health;
  • To be a forum on international affairs for rural women, speaking for them with an informed voice in the Councils of the World.

What ACWW does:
Works for improved standards of living for all women and their families.
Supports projects organized locally by members to promote basic education to fight hunger and disease.
Trains local women for leadership in developing countries, through causes, seminars and individual scholarships (the Lady Aberdeen and Elsie Zimmern Scholarships and Nutrition Education Projects.).
Speaks for its members and airs their problems at the United Nations where it has consultative status. It also gives members first hand information about the UN and its specialized agencies.
