Introduction
This report presents estimates of Nova Scotia's agri-food exports between 1994 -1998. The data
for 1994 has not been included in all of the tabular calculations because of the change in
reporting format between 1994 and 1995.
The report is broken down into three sections -- Section 1 examines countries to which Nova
Scotia exported agri-food products between 1995 and 1998, with a more detailed examination of
the top ten countries. Section 2 examines the agri-food products Nova Scotia exported between
1995-1998 with a more detailed examination of the top ten products. Section 3 details Nova
Scotia exports by country and commodity.
Data Sources
Export statistics were derived primarily from data provided by the International Trade Division
of Statistics Canada. In a number of cases, (cattle, fur and produce) adjustments and revisions
were required to overcome inaccuracies resulting from the attribution of exports on a province-of-lading basis rather than a province-of-origin. These numbers were adjusted through
discussions with industry and Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing personnel.
