1 Statute Nova Scotia Agricultural College Act
2 Purpose To provide strategic direction and leadership to transform the Nova Scotia Agricultural College to a Board governed post-secondary educational institution by establishing fundamental corporate governance protocols and processes for board governance.
3 Functions
  • Oversee the transition from a civil service led entity to an independent Board governed post-secondary institution
  • Establish the Crown Corporation
  • Ensure the establishment of the initial financial statements of the Corporation
  • Establish the bylaws and operational processes of the Transitional and Full Board of Directors
  • Guide and develop the establishment of a faculty council or academic senate
  • Recruit future valuable members of an expanded Board
  • Integrate industry leaders into the mandate and objectives of the institution
  • Lead the establishment of a successful executable strategic path
  • Develop the operational delivery capacity of the institution

Qualifications
None
6 Work & Experience Requirements Recognized volunteer corporate and community leadership on significant boards and governance entities; Senior management or leadership roles in business, or academia, or industrial associations; Experience in establishing or redesigning operational and governance processes in large or medium sized organizations.
7 Skills Required Applicants should have demonstrable skills or expertise in one or more of the following:
  • corporate or organizational governance law and procedural rules
  • financial and accounting oversight of larger organizations
  • academic institution governance and board processes
  • senior executive experience within government
  • leading a well-informed strategic vision for agri-business growth
  • Leadership in fundamental organizational start-up processes and issues
  • Ability to impart a clear vision and motivate others to participate and pursue it
Chair:
  • chairing significant volunteer corporate, academic, or industrial association boards
