Daycares

Daycares are great places for our children to grow, learn and develop into the healthy adult of tomorrow. Learning the ABC's is just the beginning. The relationship model acquired at daycare will continue throughout the child's life. It is a good place to start healthy living with the proper foods for good nutrition.

Child Care Centre

A warm, nourishing atmosphere is just what the doctor ordered for the healthy society we all aim for.

Great benefits always come with great dangers however and the Department of Community Services oversees daycares. They license and monitor child care facilities throughout the province.

They develop and implement policies and standards for these facilities, they approve new education programs and set standards for staff's training levels.

The Department of Community Services relies on the Food Safety Specialist from the Department of Agriculture for guidance in regards to food safety and infection control as well as physical hazards. The Food Safety Specialist inspects all child care centres in the province and makes recommendations to the operator and the Department of Community Services. Education sessions are also held with the operators with focus on food safety, sanitation, personal hygiene and infection control. Outbreaks investigations are conducted under the direction of the Medical Officer of Health
