A part of Nova Scotia's Strategic Plan - a component of the Canada/Nova Scotia Agreement on French-language Services, is for government to have a coordinated approach when dealing with human resources issues related to the delivery of French-language services. One of the actions identified is French language training for government employees.
The Office of Acadian Affairs is striving to provide the necessary support to assist departments and offices in reaching the objectives of their respective French-language service plans and has made French language training opportunities available to provincial public servants since 2004. Response from public servants who have taken these courses has been positive and our capacity to provide services in the French is increasing.
Employees who are interested in taking French language training should inform their supervisors or HR consultants when discussing their career and training plans.
