



The Office of Acadian Affairs offers several services to provincial government departments, offices and agencies to help facilitate the development and delivery of French-language services.
The Office of Acadian Affairs provides confidential, quality translation services to provincial departments, offices and agencies. These services include translation, proofreading, and terminology services. The Office of Acadian Affairs’ professional translators work primarily from English to French.
The Office of Acadian Affairs manages two agreements relative to French-language services: the Canada-Nova Scotia Agreement on French-language Services and the Cooperation and Exchange Agreement between the Government of Québec and the Government of Nova Scotia. Funding from these agreements is matched by the Government of Nova Scotia. The Office of Acadian Affairs is responsible for the agreements and the distribution of funding.
The Office of Acadian Affairs offers three training options for public servants:
French-language training courses are offered to public servants generally four times per year in three locations: Halifax and Tusket, in collaboration with Université Sainte-Anne, and in Sydney, in collaboration with the Conseil Communautaire Étoile de l’Acadie. The Office of Acadian Affairs is expanding French-language training in other areas of Nova Scotia.
Acadie at a Glance: the Acadians of Nova Scotia and French-language Services is a workshop for public servants designed to increase awareness of the Acadian and francophone community. The workshop also explains the legislative and regulatory framework that guide the delivery of French-language services by the provincial government. Learn more
Lunch and Learn sessions are free noontime activities that allow public servants to speak French in a casual setting. Each month a different guest speaker presents a new topic.
The Bonjour! Program provides provincial departments, offices, and agencies with desktop signs, posters, and lapel pins to indicate to members of the public that services are available in French. Learn more
