I want to welcome you to the Office of Aboriginal Affairs online. I invite you to take a tour of the site and discover what we do. Hopefully you will learn a little about Nova Scotia’s founding people, the Mi’kmaq.
As Minister of Aboriginal Affairs for the last eight years, I have witnessed a significant change in the relationship between the province and the Mi’kmaq. With the introduction of the
Mi’kmaq-Nova Scotia-Canada Tripartite Forum, the
Made-in-Nova Scotia Process and our coordinating role in
consultation efforts with the Mi'kmaq of Nova Scotia, we are on the road to developing a new relationship, one based on partnership, respect and mutual understanding.
