American marten

As part of our efforts to recover the American marten on Cape Breton (listed as provincially endangered), the Province of Nova Scotia, along with Parks Canada and other partners, are supplementing the population with individuals from New Brunswick. In the last two years 76 marten have been released in various areas in and around the Cape Breton Highlands. Click here to see a map of the release sites.
