Pest Detection Officers are a vital link in the network that allows the Forest Health section to monitor and assess the forest insect and disease populations in Nova Scotia.

They participate in surveys, identify tree health problems, act as a liaison between Forest Health and the public, and report any areas of tree mortality that may be of concern. They provide province wide information that allows the Forest Health section to complete its mandate within Nova Scotia.
