The access constraints are contained in the following License Agreement which the user must agree to before using the data. A copy of the License Agreement is included with the digital product. The License Agreement reads as follows:

For good consideration, the receipt of which is acknowledged, DNR licences the non-exclusive use of the digital DATA to the USER on the following terms and conditions.

DNR remains the owner of the DATA and is not assigning copyright privileges to the USER.
The USER agrees to acknowledge DNR as the source of the DATA, if using or distributing it in its original form, whether in whole or in part, or as part of a value added product.
DNR reserves the right to modify and/or update the DATA without obligations to notify the USER.
The DATA is provided to the USER on an "as is" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
The entire risk as to the quality and accuracy of the DATA is with the USER and the USER shall use his/her own judgment in making use of the DATA or drawing conclusions based upon it.
DNR shall not be liable to the USER, his/her clients, servants, agents, contractors, assigns, or to any other person for any loss or damage of any kind including personal injury or death arising from the use of the DATA or accompanying written materials, or from errors, deficiencies or faults therein, whether such damage is caused by negligence or otherwise. If errors or omissions are found in the DATA, the USER will notify DNR.
This Licence is the entire Agreement between the parties and supersedes all previous Agreements or understandings between DNR and the USER hereto, whether written or oral, in connection with or incidental to the DATA. This Licence shall be binding upon the parties hereto and each of their executors, administrators, successors and assigns and shall ensure to the benefit of such executors, administrators, successors and authorized assigns.
This Licence must be included with the DATA if the USER copies, resells, or re-distributes the DATA whether in whole or in part.
This Licence can be terminated by DNR at any time. Upon such termination, the USER shall refrain from using the DATA and destroy all copies and backups in the USER'S possession.
This Licence is in effect once the USER reads and accepts the Terms and Conditions of this Licence. If the USER is unable or unwilling to fully comply with these terms and conditions, the USER must refrain from using the DATA. By using the DATA, the USER acknowledges that he/she was aware of the terms and conditions of this Licence when he/she accepted it, understood them, and agreed to be bound by them."

On April 1, 2005 the Mineral Resources Branch changed the claim staking system from a NAD27 base to a NAD83 base. All updates to DP 051 (Nova Scotia Mineral Rights Database), DP 012 (Claim, Mining Tract and Petroleum Reservation Grids for Claim Reference Maps), DP ME 046 and OFM ME 2005-120, after this time will use the NAD83 datum.
DP ME 046, version 16, and OFM ME 2005-120, version 1, which are equivalent products will be the first to be based on NAD83. |

Description: |
In September 2005 the branch decided to release the next version of the Mineral Rights Dispositon Map using a new map number. This was because the new map would be based on a NAD83 base. The new map number became OFM ME 2005-120.
At the same time it was decided to change the ditial product number from the old number system to our new system. Therefore DP ME O00-006 was changed to DP ME 046. It was also decide that since this was a change in numbers (from an old system to a new one) and not a new product that the version numbers would continue in sequence. So the first version of DP ME 046 would be version 16. |

On August 1, 2006 Brian Fisher made a number of changes to the REGDISPMAL.AML program and thus the map. These included the following:
1 - Non Mineral Registrations were added as a new layer. These were previously called Mining Permits and were
not plotted on the map.
2 - Hydrocarbon Storage-area Licences were plotted as a separte layer on the map. Previoulsy they were included under Mineral Licences.
3 - Hydrocarbon Storage-area Leases were plotted as a separte layer. Previously there were included under Leases.
4 - Geothermal Resource Areas were added to the map as Closures.
5 - The Key legend was edited to reflect the new layers and information. |
