Abstract

This digital product is a digital version of Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources Published Open File Map ME 2008-2, Mineral Rights Disposition Map for the Province of Nova Scotia, compiled by B.E. Fisher, and A.S. Wenning of the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources (NSDNR), Mineral Resources Branch (MRB). The digital product consists of a PDF file of the map containing information pertaining to mineral rights designation for land in Nova Scotia.

Format and Projection

Format Portable Document Format (PDF) and TXT files compressed in self-extracting EXE/ZIP files (more information on data formats)

PDF - 1.4 MB (compressed) and 1.5 MB (uncompressed)

Projection Beginning with OFM 2005-120 Version 1 of the Mineral Rights Disposition Map, all data is in six-degree Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection, Zone 20, Central Meridian 63° 00' West using the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). This is a change from OFM 2000-6 versions 1 - 15 which were in NAD27.

Downloading Instructions

The data files have been compressed using PKZIP into a single, self-extracting EXE file.

  1. Read the Licence before accepting the data.
  2. Download the self-extracting EXE file to the desired location on your hard drive.
  3. Double click or "RUN" the EXE file and the data files will be unzipped automatically.

The EXE file can also be opened in WinZip to view and extract the compressed files in the data set.

On UNIX platforms, the unzip command will extract the compressed files in the EXE.

Beginning with OFM 2005-120 Version 1 of the Mineral Rights Disposition Map, all data is in six-degree Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection, Zone 20, Central Meridian 63° 00' West using the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). This is a change from OFM 2000-6 versions 1 - 15 which were in NAD27. A readme file and a copy of the licence agreement are also included with each data set.
