Registration Fees for Commercial Farmers' and Fishermen's Trucks Regulations
made under subsection 302(1) of the
Motor Vehicle Act

1 In these regulations
(a) “farmer” means a person
(i) who resides on a farm and derives the major part of his income from that farm, or
(ii) who operates a farm that gives employment to one or more persons on a full time basis;
(b) “fishermen [fisherman]” means any person who holds a valid Commercial Fishing Vessel (C.F.V.) Registration issued by the Government of Canada, Department of Fisheries and Oceans and a valid registration card issued under Section 3 of the regulations made pursuant to the Health Services Tax Act.
[Note: Section 3 of regulations made pursuant to the Health Services Tax Act was repealed by S.N.S. 1995-96, c. 17, S. 96(2). Registration cards are now issued under Section 36 of the Revenue Act Regulations.]
2 The annual registration fee for a truck owned by a commercial farmer or fisherman is the amount set out below opposite the weight range within which the truck falls:

3 The fees referred to above for trucks owned by farmers shall be applicable for one registration year, provided that the permit for the truck bears the following endorsement:
“The within described truck, with or without farm implement, farm trailer or farm wagon attached is authorized to be operated on a highway for the transportation of the owner’s farm products and farm supplies only.”

4 The fees referred to above for trucks owned by fishermen shall be applicable for one registration year, provided that the permit for the truck bears the following endorsement:
“The within described truck is authorized to be operated on the highway for the transportation of the owner’s harvest from the sea, related equipment and supplies only.”
