Calculation of Reduced Allowances Regulations
made under Section 19 of the
Members’ Retiring Allowances Act
R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 282

1 In these regulations
(a) “Act” means the Members’ Retiring Allowances Act;
(b) “Member” means a Member of the House of Assembly as defined in the Act.
2 A Member who has ceased to be a Member before attaining age fifty-five, and would if he had attained age fifty-five be entitled to an allowance pursuant to the provisions of the Act, may be paid an allowance at a reduced level. The reduced level allowance shall be calculated by determining the allowance to which the Member would be entitled at age fifty-five years and multiplying that allowance by the Factor for his present age shown opposite the ages in the Table set forth here below. For non-integral ages the Factor shall be calculated from the Factors for the integral ages above and below the actual age of linear interpolation.
