Nova Scotia’s Environmental Goals and Sustainable Prosperity Act will make our province one of the cleanest, most sustainable regions in Canada by 2020.
The Act includes commitments to cut greenhouse gases to 10% below 1990 levels by the year 2020, and large reductions in other air pollutants by 2010.
To help achieve that goal, our $42.5 million ecoNova Scotia for Clean Air and Climate Change fund will support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollution. This funding was provided by the Government of Canada in 2007.
ecoNova Scotia will support many different initiatives, ranging from tidal power to natural gas conversion at Capital Health.
ecoNova Scotia will also encourage opportunities for Nova Scotians, by Nova Scotians (see the Municipal Program or the Environmental Technology Program for more information).
